Another day, another New Balance 992. Following the recent drop of the black and grey core colourway, NB have seen fit to render their throwback hero in another essential combination of white and navy.

The 992 seems to have exorcised the ghosts that arose following the death of the Dad Shoe, because there is not a single ounce of irony in how NB have brought back the cult model. There’s no Ohio dad and London supermodel dichotomy here (as was the case with how the 990v5 was marketed upon launch); the 992 proudly maintains its milestone status as the centenarian flagship from 2006. NB marks this designation with pearly white premium leather and mesh uppers that are tinged with deep navy underlays. This two-tone rendition is one of the strongest contrasting colourways to highlight the complexity of the design. As is the grey and white, multi-density foam midsole that’s merged with ABZORB SBS inserts at the heel and forefoot for all that good squishy supportive stuff.

For some, the colourway may be too senescent and more suited for lawn bowls than it is laneways. For those with mature palates, the New Balance 992 in white and navy is available now from Up There.
