Last year they tapped the with a colourway inspired by the eccentric and in April they celebrated 85 years of their sister store using the and . But for their latest, West NYC have taken the iconic to Zabar’s – a Manhattan institution!
The adidas Rod Laver is the namesake signature shoe of the Australian tennis legend, who also has a stadium named after him in Melbourne. Originally launching in 1970, the Rod Laver quickly became a street style staple, and a favourite for rappers like – it was even name-dropped in Meat Grinder. Paying homage to the iconic sneak, West NYC have made a muse out of Zabar’s, Manhattan’s famous and long-running gourmet emporium. Taking the colours of Zabar’s official staff garb, West NYC plaster the Rod Laver in orange and white. Each of the shop floor employees were blessed with a pair, making these an unofficial uniform for the shop.
