French footwear brand iGUANEYE are responsible for some of the  on the market. Inspired by Amazonian Indians, who would coat their feet in liquid rubber for protection, the brand approaches design with a highly minimalist approach, redefining our conception of necessity by gradually shaving off elements of conventional footwear to their purest form.

iGUANEYE's latest design, the Jungle, takes this approach to the next level. It features a two-piece design that assembles like a 3D puzzle and is secured to the foot solely by the big toe and heel. The result is a shoe that provides the breathability of sandals, but the foot-hugging security of a sneaker. Both 'LUX' and 'Light' designs have been developed, the former made of leather and cork and the the latter made with waterproof EVA foam.

The iGUANEYE Jungle is currently up on Indiegogo for crowdfunding with a $50,000 goal. There's a month to go on the campaign and it looks well on track to raise the necessary funds, so be sure to back it if you want to try this unique footwear out for yourself.
