Wales Bonner and adidas Visit the Country
, the eponymous fashion label of Grace Wales Bonner, has been collaborating with for a number of seasons on elevated takes of sportswear classics. That partnership continues with a new pairing of the Country model, complete with signature WB touches.
Exhibiting an ongoing reverence for delicate fabrics and soft styling, one Country option has its usual leather upper replaced with lightweight nylon in caramel ‘Mesa’. Paired to ‘Easy Yellow’ suede, the result is very much in line with Bonner’s penchant for sepia-toned 1970s nostalgia.
The converse pair is almost all-black and maintains the Country’s usual leather build. It again is paired with tonal suede accents, but a heathy dollop of creamy yellow on the lining, midsole and contrast stitching helps draw the line between boutique and factory outlet.
On the topic of the stitching, Bonner’s signature ornate threading appears on key panel edges, plus the shoes are packaged with an additional set of crochet fabric laces – a consistent element of the brand’s design cues.
The Wales Bonner x Adidas Country collaboration will release on June 5 alongside an expansive capsule of sportswear apparel including retro tracksuits and casual wear. There is even a pair of knee-high socks to pair with the kicks.
