Visvim Fbt Prime Debut Collection
Coming up in the '000s, the FBT was the ultimate status symbol for sneakerheads. A high-dollar flex and a silent nod to those privy to the mysterious Japanese label, the moccasin-styled design could be credited as the model that paved the way for the ultra-premium sneaker offerings that proliferate the current market. With traditional Native American aesthetics combined with a technical Vibram sole, Hiroki Nakamura mated his technical apparel experience at Burton with his love for classic Americana, and off the back of the success of the FBT, the designer carried over that design philosophy to build his successful apparel range.
This year, Hiroki has decided to overhaul visvim's flagship model for the new Spring/Summer collection, with the introduction of the FBT Prime. The FBT Prime sports a familiar moccasin upper that is constructed from Swedish vegetable-tanned cow suede and subtly refined, but wields a new sole unit that boasts a new heel counter design as well as a midsole that includes multiple flex grooves to improve the cushioning and comfort of the shoe overall. Finally, the sole unit also incorporates indigo-dyed cotton-nylon blend fabric details that tie it closer to the upper designer than before. It's refreshing to see visvim continually refining the iconic FBT, and as the Americana revival hits traditional menswear we'll no doubt see a trickle on effect to our little world of sneakers and streetwear shortly.
The debut visvim FBT Prime collection will be available at select visvim stockists including this season.
