Vans Vault Go Dotty on the Sk8-Hi
have gone dotty on the legendary , encasing the iconic silhouette in a wild ‘cage’ that features large circular cut-outs. Dubbed the Vans Vault Sk8-Hi Cage VLT LX, the eye-catching design starts with a standard Sk8-Hi that’s dressed in a combo of checkerboard print and plain black, before covering all but the waffle outsole in the holey cage.
By its own description, the range celebrates the brand’s proud history and legacy ‘by elevating iconic designs through choice materials and meticulous attention to detail’. And this sure is a bold reimagining of the Sk8-Hi, a model that was launched in 1978 and known simply as ‘Style 38’. Only the second Vans model to feature the now-iconic Sidestripe, the Sk8-Hi was a big step forward in skate functionality when it first arrived on the scene. The high-cut of the design not only shielded bones from errant skateboards, but it also introduced a new high top aesthetic to the skate park.
