Vans OG Prison Issue LX
There’s nothing cool about going to prison, right? Wrong. A free pair of Vans OG Prison Issue LX seems pretty damn cool to us. Before you go and blame us for any crime sprees that might take place after you read this, we have to point out that Vans no longer have a contract with the Californian prison system, this isn’t what you’d get these days.
Lucky for us the OG Prison Issue LX is now available for civilian purchase. The Velcro straps across the top of the shoe were used in place of laces, as inmates were likely to employ the laces for nefarious purposes. These days they make a great alternative for those who are just plain old lazy (we’ve all sighed at the prospect of un-tying shoelaces after a long day). The three Velcro straps, along with the toe box, are made from suede while the rest of the upper is a simple canvas. A vulcanised rubber sole makes sure you don't mistake these for one of the many strapped up running shoes available these days.
You can purchase (or trade cigarettes for) the Vans OG Prison Issue LX at select retailers now, including Hanon.
