American skater and Fucking Awesome co-founder, Anthony Van Engelen, aka AVE, has just debuted his latest project with Vans dubbed the AVE 2.0, that hosts the latest skate innovations from the SoCal brand. The model follows decades of innovation from the duo that spawns the AVE, AVE Athletic and AVE Knit; however, it takes it up a notch with the most up-to-date mechanics and a slick new build that can withstand anything a skater can throw at it.

’20 years ago, skate shoes just gave the appearance of tech,’ Anthony Van Engelen said about his latest signature model. ‘Now, we’re in the future, where that technical design extends to the shoe’s performance.’

The AVE 2.0’s signature is its knit and suede combination upper, which AVE has found to be be ‘super comfortable, lightweight and breathable, [and when] combined with suede in the more high-use parts of the shoe, it makes for a great mixture of design and performance’. Up for the most arduous skate sesh, the AVE 2.0 rocks a stitchless upper thanks to Vans’ RapidWeld, mixed with TPU heel cage for max lockdown. The amount of tech crammed into this sleek build isn’t only confined to the upper: the midsole and outsole are made with UlimateWaffle, and the addition of comfy UltraCush cushioning and SickStick rubber outsoles makes for better board feel.

‘Vans and I have stayed on track with innovations over three signature shoes and ten years now,’ says Van Engelen on the new AVE 2.0. ‘True innovation creates both a high-performance skate shoe and excitement for what’s possible in the future.’

An apparel collection will drop alongside the new AVE 2.0 model, consisting of denim pants, tees and a beanie. Exude that ‘Off the Wall’ energy and head to Vans’ webstore and select skate spots on March 28 to cop the AVE 2.0.
