Vans' ASCII-Inspired Sk8-Hi is One of Their Wackiest Ever
Vans look to be getting wilder with age, ramping the deconstructed vibes yet again, for the new VANSCII SK8-Hi. Inspired by the Y2K phenomena and ASCII programming language, the eye-catching sneaker nods to the technology paranoia experienced during the late 90s.
An hourglass embroidered graphic hits the medial and lateral sides, with abnormal layered Jazz Stripes hinting at a computer malfunction. A grid pattern is seen on the underlay, while blue and green accents ram home the nostalgic aesthetic. Last but not least, plastered foxing covers both the midsole and part of the upper, completing this idiosyncratic Sk8-Hi make-up.
