Urbanstar Roma Snap the Skepta x Nike Air Max Tailwind 5 On-Foot
Game-changing North London grime artist continues to ‘shutdown’ the sneakersphere with his partnership, prepping his own distinctive take on the classic . We’ve seen plenty of quality shots of the upcoming collaboration, but Italian sneaker stalwarts Urbanstar Roma have delivered arguably the best look yet, coming through with an on-foot, barbershop-inspired shoot.
After teasing a ‘University Red’ colourway of the Tailwind 5 back in January, Skepta and Nike have unveiled a contrasting rendition in ‘Bright Blue’. Inspired by a butterfly’s wing, the psychedelic upper is built around the idea of continual adaptation. Also paying homage to Skepta’s previous collaborations with Nike and meteoric grime career, this Tailwind adopts chrome Swooshes on the sides, nodding to the SK Shox, while a thermographic heel counter references his Ignorance Is Bliss album art. A murdered-out black Air-infused sole unit hits down below, while co-branding decorates the tongue and insoles.
Set to be one of the collaborations of the year, the Skepta x Nike Air Max Tailwind 5 ‘Bright Blue’ is scheduled to land on April 2 in Europe, the Asia Pacific, and Greater China, at select retailers like .
