The Legend Continues: Up There x New Balance 2002R ‘Backyard Legends II’
After belting out their collaboration earlier this year, Australian boutique return with their ‘Backyard Legends II’ sequel.
This upcoming release continues the rich material story that Up There pushed to the limits on the 2002R. Maroon American-made ‘Wolverine’ suede takes up a lot of the upper, meeting tonal mesh trims on the ankle counter and midfoot. The rest of the upper is stark white mesh, broken up by reflective silver accents in OG NB style. The silver tongue is proudly emblazoned with ‘AUS’ branding – an element that may only ever be claimed by Up There. The N-ERGY midsole and outsole have just about every component shaded to the store’s spec: find cream yellow, grey, black, and red in the mix.
Accompanying this release is a continuation of the eponymous short film created for the first ‘Backyard Legends’. This time, the protagonist washes up onto Venice Beach and adapts to the culture shock with a new pair of 2002Rs – check it out below.
The Up There x New Balance 2002R ‘Backyard Legends II’ will first release in-store at Up There on December 9 from 8 am AEDT, followed by an online drop on December 10 at 8 am AEDT.
