Unity and adidas Skateboarding Colab Brings the Community Together
Progressive skate brand Unity are helping make the sport more inclusive with the help of a new collaboration. Comprised of griptape-ready takes on the Coronado and Continental Vulc, these clean renditions reveal powerful messaging beneath the surface, simultaneously inspired by and inspiring the LGBTQI+ community that the Unity team identify with.
The Coronado is a classically styled suede skater, featuring durable vulc soles and triple-stitched toe boxes for durability. Its dark navy finish lends itself to keeping fresh on and off the board. While the Continental Vulc is an ex-tennis sneaker modified for shredding up its pristine white leather uppers.
Decorated with the handdrawn style of Unity co-founder Jeffrey Cheung, positive reinforcement such as ‘Don’t Be Afraid of Who You Are’ is embedded on the insides of the shoes. The insoles feature custom artwork depicting the wide variety of people bound together by a love of skateboarding, matched to the illustrated tongue labels.
Releasing alongside matching apparel, the Unity x adidas Skateboarding collection will be available on August 28, directly from and selected skate stores globally.
