Under Armour Debuts the Curry 5 'Pi Day' on Steph's 30th Birthday
Despite spending his 30th birthday sidelined with an ankle injury, NBA superstar Stephen Curry still had plenty of reason to celebrate. Looking after their main man, it’s no surprise Under Armour came through with a pretty swanky b’day gift — the new Curry 5 ‘Pi Day’ signature model.
Limited to 314 pairs, the celebratory release also coincides with Pi Day — every math geek’s favourite day of the year. The Pi theme extends to the design of the sneaker, with Under Armour using the ‘squaring the circle’ concept as inspiration for the circular construction of the low-cut court shoe.
The debut colourway features a black knit upper with Pi references throughout, including a knitted Pi symbol and ‘3.14’ text on the shoe's icy outsole and shoelace aglets.
Unfortunately, all pairs of the Curry 5 ‘Pi Day’ have been snapped up — no surprises considering the wallet-friendly RRP of $130 USD and uber-limited numbers. But fear not, you can still get a piece of this Pi when Under Armour restock on April 14.
