Update March 16, 2022: Following the release of the collaborative thisisneverthat x New Balance 860v2 model earlier this year, it's now due for the next drop at stores like Up There on March 17. Scroll down to get shopping.

Korean label thisisneverthat have announced their latest sneaker collaboration with New Balance on the 860v2 model. If you’re thinking that it looks mighty similar to the 2002R, that’s because it derives its midsole from the 860v2. It also happens that thisisneverthat were an early collaborator on the 2002R when the model first (re)launched.

For their new NB effort, the 860v2 is redone in a majority white leather upper, as opposed to the technical synthetic and mesh used on the regular model. As evident by thisisneverthat’s emphasis on textures found in their clothing, these sneakers also exhibit different surfaces, namely heavily perforations throughout the entire upper. For accenting contrast, the midsoles are slightly yellowed for that aged look, but thankfully they’re not over-the-top faux vintage – the 860v2 only came out about 10 years ago. There’s also some deeper yellow, almost gold, inserts here. In the brand's lookbook for this colab, they also revealed an all-black colourway, save for the reflective N, which also has some suede inserts on the toe and heel.

In the promo video created by thisisneverthat above, it also appears the collaboration will be releasing a full range of co-branded apparel including varsity jackets and track suits. There’s a reflective ankle cuff for bike riding too, but it could be just a one-off item.

The thisisneverthat x New Balance 860v2 will release on February 10 at 10AM KST (February 9 at 5PM PST / 8PM EST) directly from thisisneverthat.
