Korean brand thisisneverthat have teamed up with Converse for the first time to create a 'New Vintage' collection. Consisting of fresh takes on the Chuck 70 and the One Star, the 'New Vintage' offerings give each silhouette a new look by adding faded, vintage-inspired details and unique materials.

'The 90s era is the biggest influence of our brand, and we tried to bring back the vintage style of Converse in the 90s while reinterpreting it in our own style,' explains thisisneverthat founder Jongkyu. Each silhouette features a crisp monochromatic upper – shaggy off-white suede for the Chuck 70 and short, sturdy navy nubuck for the One Star – 'aged' midsoles and vintage green outsoles. For a little extra detail, the Chuck 70 boasts an altered collar badge as well.

There's also text hits on the midsole, which Jongkyu explains: '(The text and numbers represent) the internal serial numbers used to show the season and brand for each product. Plus, it is a detail that has also been used in thisisneverthat’s in-house collection.' The shoes are accompanied by a full set of co-created apparel that includes a jacket, zip-up fleece, tee and beanie.

Though this is thisisneverthat's first go-around with Converse, the brand is no stranger to the footwear sphere. In years past, it's collaborated extensively with New Balance – releasing a 997 in 2019 plus 827s and 2002Rs (one of which features similarly-aged midsole detailing) in 2020.

Expect the thisisneverthat x Converse Chuck 70 and One Star to release on the Converse webstore on November 4. For more Converse content, check out all the comfort-centric features of the Chuck Taylor All Star line here.
