As part of the Superstar’s 50th anniversary celebrations in 2020, it was only natural that adidas revitalised their long-time partnership with legendary hip hop trio Run-DMC. Following a classic-looking collaborative effort earlier in the year, we’ve now got another rendition of the iconic sneaker on the way, and it’s paying homage to the group’s DJ: Jam Master Jay.

This Superstar sports a predominately black upper with a contrasting white Three Stripes hit on the sides and top heel section. A faint Trefoil logo is spotted on the aforementioned heel, with the highlight of the sneaker undoubtedly the Jam Master Jay graphic that decorates the tongues. Completing the ensemble are Run-DMC logos on the insoles, and an all-black sole unit down below.

Known for their signature street style, Run-DMC frequently flexed a staunch mix of denim, adidas tracksuits, Kangols, fedoras, hefty eyeglasses and, of course, adidas Superstars – worn in true prison-style without laces. You can read more about the Superstar and the other sneakers that defined 80s hip hop here.

Coming sooner than expected, the Run-DMC x adidas Superstar ‘Jam Master Jay’ releases on October 30, with pairs set to arrive at select retailers and adidas for a retail price tag of $110.
