The Nike  Air Max Plus is preparing to pay homage to a member of its Air Max brethren, with official pics of an upcoming colourway that seems to have been inspired by the OG Air Max 1. And it looks right at home dressed in that unmistakable white and ‘University Red’ colour scheme, despite the obvious challenge of trying to keep these bad boys clean once they’re on your feet.

When the AM1 first landed in 1987, it was a genuine game-changer, paving the way for a steady stream of Air Max variations to dominate the scene – including the notorious Air Max Plus. Otherwise known as the TN, the Air Max Plus arrived in 1998, and was the ground-breaking creation of industry veteran Sean McDowell. The hypnotic upper takes design cues from Florida’s swaying palm trees and vibrant evening skies. The distinctive OG colourway’s dusk-inspired blue fade and moulded palm trunk–like overlays sparked a notoriety within the sneakersphere that still  resonates  to this day.

This red and white Air Max Plus is apparently part of the annual Air Max Day festivities, so a drop is expected within the next week or two.
