This New Balance 991 Can Only Be Copped at United ArrowsRelease: 19 July 2021
As the 991 continues its 20th anniversary celebrations this year, New Balance are finding more ways to maintain the momentum of new releases. With a handful of collaborations and special editions already in the mix, the next strategy NB have employed is releasing some region-exclusive colourways – such as this new drop that’s only available from Japan’s United Arrows.
The 991 is a model in the NB 99X range that’s proven particularly versatile on the colourway front, readily taking on other stately shades such as brown and olive in place of its typecast grey. It’s no different here as a mixture of tan and dark moss green make up the majority of the palette, plus some complementary dabs of mustard and mauve mix in well. What does stay consistent with most 991s is the suede and mesh materials used on the uppers, plus that velvety microfibre lining that Made In England NB models tend to use. The midsoles are fairly conventionally colour-blocked too, with the two-tone dual-density foams on show alongside visible ABZORB windows at the forefoot and heel.
Pre-orders for this New Balance 991 are open now from United Arrows for an expected mid-August delivery. Better yet, it appears the WorldShopping service is now available, allowing international delivery to certain countries!
