This J. Crew x New Balance 1400 Dons the ‘What The’ LookRelease: 21 January 2021 Style Code: M1400MUJ
Colourway: Dark Everygreen/Navy
Style Code: M1400MUJ
Colourway: Dark Everygreen/Navy
The New Balance 1400 is an underrated model within the heritage running brand’s premium Made In USA range. Swanky menswear chain J. Crew, who first collaborated with NB on this silhouette back in 2010, have since kept close association. Now, their latest collaborative colourway to come out of the staple stable is this multi-panelled mix that opts for the ‘What The’ style that’s become popular in recent years.
Despite its motley appearance, the various shades of this 1400 are arranged in an organised way. Using fine pigskin suede across the entire upper, the toe box is dipped in dark navy, followed by a forest green mid panel, then light beige on the upper collar, and the heel counter is finished in NB grey. Underfoot, the standard issue ENCAP/C-CAP midsole stays white for crisp contrast. Elsewhere, touchpoints including the tongue, heel MCD, laces, and insoles are set in classic light grey. Looking at the big picture, this colourway is effectively a mashup of classic J. Crew x NB 1400 releases.
The M1400MUJ can be indeed obtained directly from J. Crew’s webstore, but a handful of units have made it all the way to New Balance Japan too.
