are continually pulling out obscure colourway inspirations for their latest sneakers. Here, the hybrid silhouette appears in a familiar colour scheme: the ‘Concord’ Air 180.

The connection becomes clear when looking back to 1992. Michael Jordan wore the Air 180s in a Dream Team photoshoot ahead of the Olympics in Barcelona. Thus, the translation of materials and colours result in a faithful homage.

With a mixture of neutral suede and nylon, the dark purple neoprene tongue and ankle accents follow the colour-blocking of the Air 180. The two-tone split label and co-branded heels make the inspiration obvious. A more subtle detail is the number nine beneath the ice sole, a reference to MJ’s jersey number on the Dream Team.

This drop was reportedly designed by Spike Lee’s son, Jackson Lewis Lee, so there is an extra layer of basketball history. Keep an eye out at Nike retailers for this release.
