After months of early leaks and seasonal previews, Jordan Brand have finally released official pictures of the Air Jordan 12 ‘Royalty’, which is scheduled to release later this year. Long-time Jordanheads will definitely see the resemblance to the OG ‘Taxi’ colourway, but some new features have been added that earns this edition its ‘Royalty’ moniker.

The AJ12 is a significant entry in the signature Jordan line. For one, Michael Jordan wore them en route to his six total NBA championships. On the design side, it was the first Jordan sneaker to feature Zoom Air technology, which designer Tinker Hatfield was keen to include – it clearly paid off. It was also a step up on the material front, with thick tumbled leather comprising most of the upper, plus a distinct lizard skin-textured bumper.

So, how does the ‘Royalty’ AJ12 differ to the white and black ‘Taxi OG’? There’s a lot more *Goldmember voice* GOOOOLD on the hardware, which includes the speed hooks on the upper ankle and arch clips. The opulent colour also emerges on the tongue embroidery, Jumpman branding and heel tabs. Where red is found on the ‘Taxi’ has now been replaced by crisp white.

Expect to see more of the AJ12 ‘Royalty’ ahead of its expected November 13 release.
