The Whitaker Group Wheel Out Three adidas Superstar 82 Rollerskates
While performance shoes continue to take a good chunk of most brands’ focus right now, are not forgetting some of the slightly more that also provide ample opportunity to get involved. Having recently rolled out a with Dover Street Market and Brain Dead, the Three Stripes are now joining forces with another retail powerhouse, The Whitaker Group, on three 82 Rollerskates.
Paying homage to the rollerskating scene as a cornerstone of Black and Brown cultural expression, the three collaborative styles see the high-top Superstar arrive fitted with a suite of wheels in a quad formation. Though inline versions do exist already, the colab will launch exclusively via an event at the Cascade Atlanta Skate Rink, where adidas and the Whitaker Group will pay tribute to the pioneering members of skate culture and the iconic locations that have helped shape the community. The event will feature DJ sets, skate showcases and community programs.
Three pairs of TWG x adidas Superstar Skates have been prepped for the launch and accompanying event, including a super-limited seeding pair that has been exclusively produced for 92 skaters, community members and cultural contributors who embody the release's storytelling. This pair comes with a black leather base, the usual iconic Shell Toe and glow-in-the-dark green Stripes. Two more colourways will also land alongside this special edition version, and they will be available on a first-come-first-serve basis at the event – a black and white pair and a particularly jazzy silver iteration.
