The Supreme x Nike Air Max Goadome Boot Colab Slithers Onto the StreetsRelease: 14 January 2021
Despite being acquired by VF Corporation in late 2020, it appears streetwear behemoth Supreme are continuing their longstanding collaborative partnership with Nike. This time the model of choice is the very tough Air Max Goadome sneaker boot, which may not immediately strike a chord with all ‘preme fans, but with closer scrutiny, the colab makes perfect sense.
At the turn of the millennium, Nike encroached on the territory occupied by Timberland’s 6-Inch Boot (a Supreme favourite, BTW) – i.e. New York City – at the turn of the millennium with the Air Max Goadome, which officially sat under the ACG umbrella, even though most of its adventures were curbside rather than mountainside. The Goadome may not be the street king, but it maintains cult status among NYC’s fraternity. Not to mention its immortalisation over in the DMV via Wale’s ‘Nike Boots’, which is a four-minute tribute to the Goadome.
So, this spiritual union between a distinctly NYC brand and NYC boot is deadass a match made in pigeon-infested heaven. Supreme reprise the snakeskin motif that has decorated past work (e.g. the Air Max 98 colab) on these tonal red and blacked-out editions of the Goadome. Their co-branding is reserved for a lateral red tag and bold ‘arc’ logo on the heel. Elsewhere, beefy rubber tread meets multiple Air-bagged midsoles and leather lining for a near-impenetrable shoe.
The Supreme x Nike Air Max Goadome will release on January 14 via the Supreme US website, followed by a Japan drop on January 16.
