The Rick Owens x Converse TURBODRK Chuck 70 Is A Little DifferentRelease: 27 July 2021
Legendary avant-garde fashion designer Rick Owens debuted his Converse collaboration earlier this year, causing rumbles within the sneaker and fashion worlds. Now, after months of anticipation, the official unveiling has finally touched down! And it’s fair to say that the imagery is a little bit wild.
This collaboration is with Rick Owens’ DRKSHDW diffusion line, and features an iteration of the famed Chuck 70 dubbed the TURBODRK Chuck 70. Rick Owens has put his signature avant-garde spin on the sneaker, creating a square-toe and extended tongue – two things he’s known to put on his own in-line footwear silhouettes. The sneaker will arrive in a black and a white canvas, and can be purchased in both Hi and Ox versions. Specialised tongue and heel branding has also been created for the colab, brandishing the DRKSHDW logo.
Within the sneakersphere, Rick Owens is known for his lengthy collaboration with adidas, appropriating the Nike Dunk, and his Ramones sneaker. Funnily enough, the latter is the high-fashion equivalent of the Chuck 70, and Owens actually heavily referenced Converse’s catalogue in the creation of the Ramones silhouette. So, this seems like a full circle moment for the designer.
If you’re looking to cop the Rick Owens DRKSHDW x Converse TURBODRK Chuck 70, they drop on July 27 via the Converse webstore and Rick Owen’s retailers.
