The Reebok Question Mid ‘Gridiron’ Celebrates Allen Iverson’s First Love
a few months ago, the ‘Gridiron’ is almost here. The debut signature sneaker has had numerous renditions and inspiration points over the years, but this latest iteration is one of the closest to AI’s heart. As its nickname suggests, this colourway is in reference to the NBA all-star’s first love before he hit the hardwood.
Previously nicknamed the ‘Dallas Cowboys’, astute observers will be vindicated in the fact that the grey and navy colourway is indeed in reference to the NFL team. According to Iverson, it was his mother who made him a Cowboys fan as a child.
As for materials, these Questions use a premium mix of lush nubuck and suede, the latter highlighting the mudguard and toe box. In contrast to the toe box design of the Question Mid is an overt reference to football cleats’ toes sticking out against the taped-up ‘spat’.
The gridiron tributes continue with the football field insole graphics and tweaked #3 heel logo. With all of these tantalising details on show, it really begs the question: what if Allen Iverson had pursued a football career?
That will remain unfortunately unanswered. But next best thing is this Question’s release, which will hit Reebok, Foot Locker, Champs, Footaction, and Eastbay on November 6.
