The lead-up to the release of the Off-White x Air Jordan 2 has been long! Rumours, leaked pics, and on-foot shots have gradually circulated, building anticipation for Virgil Abloh’s first AJ2 colab. The drop was actually meant to happen on September 23, but news has just touched down that it’s been delayed… by over a month!

Word that we were receiving this collaboration first came through in June, when we received looks at two colourways – one in Black/Blue and another in White/Red. The latter was affectionally dubbed ‘Varsity Red’ due to its resemblance to the OG AJ2 colourway. An under appreciated silhouette in the Jordan Brand arsenal, the rework and odes to the OG come at a perfect time because it’s celebrating its 35th anniversary in 2021.

And with the Air Jordan 2 turning 35 years old this year, the heavily vintage-inspired make up was a fitting tribute. Of those features, the most notable looks to be the sole unit, which has been artificially made to look as though it’s crumbling from age. Pre-yellowed laces and exposed aged foam also peers out of the ankle collar with Michael Jordan’s signature placed along the lateral. As usual, Abloh made his mark on the medial with the classic scripted Off-White branding.

The Off-White x Air Jordan 2 ‘Varsity Red’ and Black/Blue are now expected to touch down on November 12. But neither Off-White or Jordan Brand have confirmed this release, so we’ll keep you updated as soon as they do.
