Following a brief on-court sighting on the feet of Anthony Davis late last year, and images of an early colourway emerging last month, Nike have now officially unveiled their all-new Cosmic Unity baller. While those initial leaks, and the model’s name, hinted at some kind of higher purpose, Team Swoosh have confirmed an environmental ethos by announcing that the Cosmic Unity will be the first performance shoe to sit under their Move to Zero initiative – the focus guiding Nike’s journey towards zero waste and zero carbon.

Featuring a build that’s made with at least 25 percent recycled content (by weight), and contains a full-length Zoom Air Strobel unit, the Cosmic Unity is a basketball shoe for players that believe in making a difference both on and off the court. According to Ross Klein, Nike’s Senior Creative Director for Performance Footwear, the design aims to answer the question of whether a product that makes the world better can also improve an athlete’s performance. Klein said, ‘We wanted to create a synergy between making the world better by what we do, but also leave an impact for athletes so that they can perform at a higher level.’

Three debut colourways of the Cosmic Unity will rollout over the next two months, with the ‘Green Glow’ leading the way on February 26, the ‘Amalgam’ following on March 7, and the ‘Space Hippie’ completing the trio on March 12. Keep a close eye on Nike and selected Swoosh stockists for each of these drops.
