The return of the Nike  Air Tuned Max is set to make another splash, this time dressing in a mesmerising ‘Aquamarine’ colour scheme. Hot on the heels of the retro of the OG bronze colourway, and a neat  ‘Midnight Navy’ rendition, this latest option combines ‘Aquamarine’ with white, black and ‘Wolf Grey’. But the iridescent finish on the lead colour is the most obvious highlight here.

First hitting the scene way back in 1999, the Air Tuned Max was part of Nike’s futuristic Alpha Project, and was trumpeted as being the lightest Air Max release to date. Built with a moulded Foamposite heel, and full-length Tuned Air cushioning, the Air Tuned Max made some serious waves in the sneakersphere as the wider world approached a new millennium.

This year’s retro is the first time the Air Tuned Max has returned, and Nike seem to have really focused on making the re-creation as faithful as possible. Special details include the tiny forefoot bubble right under the toes, and that seam running along the middle of the heel unit.

Keep a close eye on Nike and select Swoosh stockists, because pairs of the Air Tuned Max ‘Aquamarine’ are expected to land soon.
