The Nike Air More Uptempo Remixes the ‘Hoop Pack’Release: 1 June 2021
An icon of 1990s basketball, Scottie Pippen’s Air More Uptempo continues to receive plenty of love from the Swoosh in 2021, the larger-than-life silhouette recently remixed with Utagawa Kuniyoshi’s legendary ukiyo-e style paintings.
Also emboldened with high-profile collaborations by the likes of streetwear prophets Supreme in recent years, the Uptempo’s latest colourway involves a tidy in-house scheme that utilises all of the bold 1990s aesthetics that continue to cast an interminable shadow over sneaker culture.
Celebrating its 25 anniversary this year, this latest Air More Uptempo Black/University Red/White ostensibly reinterprets a fan-favourite from 2017’s ‘Hoop Pack’, the 2021 release inverting the classic colourway.
Again emblazoned with signature patent leather ‘AIR’ branding (this time in red), the latest Air More Uptempo is rendered predominantly in black this time around. Underfoot, we of course have the inimitable full-length visible Max Air unit. At the moment, it looks like the Air More Uptempo is only available in grade school sizing. Look for the sneaker to release at Nike over the coming weeks.
