The Nike Air Max 97 Looks Wild in Orange and Black
Official images have emerged of a vibrant in orange and black, giving the beloved silhouette a colourway that will really turn heads. Orange leads the way by dominating the upper and midsole, before black offers contrast on the outsole and key branding points. As an added bonus, reflective hits on those signature wavy uppers ensure this shoe shines just as brightly when the sun goes down.
A regular design element throughout Nike’s of Air Max innovation is that each model is built for speed. According to sneaker mythology, the Air Max 97 design was inspired by a Japanese bullet train – hence the moniker given to the OG colourway. However, the mind behind the AM97, Christian Tresser, has since explained that the layered uppers represent ripples of water in a pond. Regardless of which version you choose to believe, the Air Max 97 sure has left an indelible mark on the sneakersphere.
