The Nike Air Max 97 GS Pays Tribute to LA in Outrageous OrangeRelease: TBC
The Nike Air Max 97 GS is preparing to pay tribute to Los Angeles with an outrageous orange colourway that is part of Team Swoosh’s growing ‘City Special’ pack. Following in the vibrant footsteps of last week’s reveal for the yellow taxi–inspired New York Air Max 95, this drop will provide another chance for the little feet brigade to rep their favourite US city. The eye-catching orange dominates the shoe, while black is used sparingly for slight touches of contrast. There’s also some reflective detailing to keep the volume up even when the sun goes down.
In the storied chapters of sneaker mythology, the Air Max 97 design was inspired by a Japanese bullet train – hence the ‘Silver Bullet’ moniker given to the OG colourway. However, the mind behind the AM97, Christian Tresser, has previously said that the layered uppers represent ripples of water in a pond. Regardless of which origin story you choose to believe, the AM97 has left an indelible mark on the world of sneakers, beloved and revered all over the world.
Pairs of this LA-inspired Nike Air Max 97 are expected to hit Nike and selected Swoosh stockists very soon. We’ll let you know if an official date is announced.
