Following yesterday’s reveal of a Nike  Air Max 90 rocking a similar vibe, images are now circulating of an Air Max 95 that’s rocking the revered ‘Rayguns’ aesthetic. As with the aforementioned AM90, there seems to be no official callout on this AM95, but the inspiration is undeniably taken from Team Swoosh’s favourite fictional ABA team: the Roswell Rayguns. The predominantly black build saves the red and orange touches for the Air Max 95’s signature layered upper for a tonal finish, while those same colours also appear on the outsole.

The enduring creation of well-known Nike designer Sergio Lozano, the concept for the Air Max 95 is said to have been inspired by a  rainy Beaverton day. Staring out his office window for some thinking time, Lozano started daydreaming about the falling rain slowly eroding the local landscape to unearth the strata below the surface. This geological concept of previously hidden layers expanded in Lozano’s mind when he later considered the anatomy of a foot which, of course, also features a layered build – this time the muscle fibres and flesh under the skin.

This Air Max 95 with the ‘Roswell Rayguns’ colour scheme is expected to touch down soon at Nike and selected Swoosh stockists.
