The Nike  Air Max 95 is preparing to hit the streets in a cork-inspired scheme, joining something of a Swoosh resurgence for the  impermeable buoyant material. This AM95 will join two different versions of the Air Max 90 to recently emerge in cork – one in cream and another in  navy – which has actually been a fairly popular material on sneakers over the years.

Like all the great Air Max 95 colourways, this rendition makes the most of the silhouette’s iconic layered design, combining the Nike-named shades of ‘Obsidian’, ‘Thunder Blue’ and ‘Hasta’ with a cork panel that’s complemented by ‘Wheat’ stitching across the upper. Down below, the outsole adopts the cork aesthetic, while an embroidered image of the cork plant decorates the tongue alongside a textbook-like denotation of ‘Fig 5. Cork’.

In addition to the cork connection, this release seems to be linked to other plant-themed models from Nike this year. Last month we saw embroidered plant motifs appear on the Air Force 1  ‘True Indigo’ and the  Blazer Mid ‘Pomegranate’.

Pairs of this cork-infused Air Max 95 are expected to pop at Nike and selected stockists very soon.
