Nike are preparing to pop cork on another one of their legendary silhouettes, this time the Air Max 90 lining up for another go with the impermeable buoyant material. Last year, cork landed on the AM90 quite a few times – including a denimesque number, clean white rendition, and tonal build.

This time, the unmistakable cork aesthetic is saved for the side Swooshes, heel branding, and the outsole, while the tongue approaches the theme from a slightly different angle. The cork plant has been embroidered all along the tongue, running under most of the lacing system, and is joined by a textbook-like denotation of ‘Fig 5. Cork’. Beyond the obvious cork additions, the silhouette adopts an earthy look that merges well with the dominant flavour.

One of Sneaker Freaker’s writers is so in love with the Air Max 90 that he thinks it’s the best Air Max design to ever come out of Beaverton. You can read that case for the affirmative right here

Pairs of this cork-adorned Air Max 90 are expected to launch soon via Nike and selected Swoosh stockists.
