The Nike  Air Max 90 is about to adopt the utilitarian aesthetic, emerging in a mil-spec rendition that’s being dubbed ‘Surplus Supply’. The official pics reveal a whole bunch of neat features, including removable zippered shrouds on the lacing units, mil-spec writing on the visible Air units, and speckled outsoles. Elsewhere, the colours and textures match the overall vibe, with black, olive, grey and orange spread across an attractive material mix.

The Air Max 90’s impressive knack for nailing down just about any thematic look is part of the reason some observers think it’s the best Air Max design to ever come out of Beaverton. It’s a huge call, but one of Sneaker Freaker’s very own carefully  stated that argument a couple of years ago. While you’re meandering down that virtual AM90 path, why not also peruse our list of the  greatest AM90  colourways of all time.

Pairs of this utilitarian Air Max 90 are expected to release in Asia on March 19, while news of a wider release remains hard to come by at this stage. We’ll keep you updated if we hear anything.
