The Nike Air Griffey Max 1 Wrangles a ‘Wheat’ ColourwayRelease: TBC
The undeniably retro Nike Air Griffey Max 1 has wrangled a ‘Wheat’ colourway, giving it quite the different look to its usual renditions. In recent times, we’ve seen the high-top dressed in ‘Fresh Water’ and ‘Varsity Royal’, but this one rocks a similar vibe to the ‘Flax’ release that hit back in 2016.
Currently making the most of its 25th anniversary celebrations, the Air Griffey Max 1 debuted in 1996 and was designed as a homage to baseball Hall of Famer Ken Griffey Jr. Noticeably inspired by the cleats that Griffey Jr. wore on the diamond during his glittering baseball career, the silhouette quickly became a popular cross training option when that whole phenomenon was taking the world by storm back in the mid- to late-90s.
While the images above are of a GS-sized pair, it’s hoped the eventual release will include a full size range, with the scheme expected to be especially popular in the northern hemisphere as they approach Fall and the colder months of Winter.
Pairs of the ‘Wheat’ Air Griffey Max 1 are expected to land soon at Nike and selected Swoosh stockists.
