The Nike Air Force 1 Pays Tribute to IndigoRelease: TBC
Beaverton’s current taste for botanical inspiration seems to be flourishing right now, with the Nike Air Force 1 the latest to dip its toe into the natural world. Following in the footsteps of the Blazer Mid ‘Pomegranate’, and the Air Max 90 ‘Cork’, this AF-1 pays homage to the indigofera tinctoria plant, which is also known as ‘true indigo’.
Like those already-revealed versions of the Blazer Mid and Air Max 90, this release reps its inspiration via an embroidered image of the plant – this time on the tongue. You’ll also spot some scientific details on the heel tabs, including the ‘Part of Use’ and the ‘Habitat’.
Beyond the indigo homages, it’s a neat execution of the Air Force 1. The upper and midsole arrive in a clean white, while the side Swooshes and heel tabs offer contrast in a light blue. Further contrast arrives on the outsole, which initially looks like the beloved ‘Gum’ but, on closer inspection, has more of a cork-like appearance.
Pairs of this indigo-infused Air Force 1 are expected to flower soon, with Nike and selected Swoosh stockists expected to have the drop.
