The Nike Air Force 1 Joins the ‘Happy Pineapple’ Brigade

The Nike  Air Force 1 is ready to join the ‘Happy Pineapple’ brigade, with official images emerging of a bold cork build for the iconic model. The upper is covered in recycled cork, while a clean white midsole sits above more cork colouring on the outsole.

Cork has been a constant feature on Nike silhouettes so far in 2021, as the Beaverton brand continues to make ground on its bold ‘Move to Zero’ mission – a journey to zero carbon and zero waste. Part of that push has included a slew of Air Max models with cork adornments, in addition to the recently unveiled  ‘Plant Cork Pack’. However, those eco-friendly releases didn’t feature the friendly fruit motif of the ‘Happy Pineapple’, which has been smiling out from a bunch of Swoosh silhouettes this year – including the Air Max 95, Air Max 90, and Air Zoom Type. 

Debuting on the hardwood in 1982 as the first Nike basketball shoe to feature ‘Air’ cushioning, the Air Force 1 sure has seen its fair share of diverse looks over the years, and this belongs with some of the most interesting. 

Pairs of the ‘Happy Pineapple’ Air Force 1 are expected to ripen at Nike and selected Swoosh stockists soon.
