The ongoing collaboration between  Nigel Cabourn and Mihara Yasuhiro is pushing on well into 2021, with the duo releasing their ‘Military Sneaker’ in two tonal colourways. Dropping in ‘Swiss Green’ and ‘Rough Tan’ renditions, the design takes inspiration from the legendary Swiss Army rucksack.

Featuring a Japanese-made version of the iconic ‘salt and pepper’ camouflage canvas, these understated models also include premium rough suede and army green panelling. The oversized laces are a notable addition to the overall design language, and are said to reference the neutral cotton herringbone details found inside the original military rucksack that provided the inspirations for these sneakers. Elsewhere, co-branding on the tongues, heels and insoles cements the collaborative partnership.

Despite commencing his design career by working on footwear, Mihara Yasuhiro remains relatively unknown in the sneakersphere. However, for those drawn to avant-garde flavour, experimentation, and beautiful design, the Japanese designer is quite well known. We caught up with him two years ago for a wide-ranging interview that you can read here.

Pairs of the Nigel Cabourn x Mihara Yasuhiro Military Sneaker – in both the ‘Swiss Green’ and ‘Rough Tan’ colourways – are available right now directly from  Cabourn’s website
