If to influence is to exercise power, who’s really in charge in our influencer-driven media - the individual or the brand paying their bills? The value of personal opinion as social currency has diminished in a world dictated by actual currency, and you can no longer be certain if anyone actually has any emotional attachment to the products they’re spruiking.
‘Control is an Illusion’ is the latest collaboration between Coutié and Vans, and it postulates that same sentiment. Is control exercised or do we simply submit for lack of a better option? The simple black Old Skool makes its statement boldly, with a popping orange Jazz Stripe and white text.
