Palace are back with another provocative sneaker colab, this time applying somewhat unconventional colour-blocking to the classic adidas Stan Smith. The two upcoming options definitely subvert the traditional ‘tennis whites’ origins of the heritage court shoe.

It’s pretty hard to look past the pastel colourway that very much resembles ice cream – in more ways than just the sweet treat – with its mix of pink, pale yellow, blue, and peach. Mix-n-match colours aren’t new to the Stan Smith, but Palace definitely push the envelope further by swapping the usual perforated stripe branding for a massive P logo. Yes, Raf Simons did it first, but it makes a lot of sense here given there are multiple contextual references being made in this colab. Other flouting includes the Palace triferg logo on the heel tab, and the embossed Stan Smith tongue label.

The other colourway in this drop briefly resembles the OG white and green Stan Smith, but quickly deviates off course with its grey tongue and pink lining. Then the same pale yellow from before adds contrast to the toe box, matching up to the faux-vintage aged rubber soles.

The Palace x adidas Stan Smith will release on February 12 alongside the rest of their Spring 2021 collection, which will be available via their webstore.
