The 'Bok Bring out the DMX BETA10 Boot
It's that time of the year again! As the silly season approaches and the temperature drops (for those in the world's north, at least), sneaker brands begin to ask themselves how they can transform their existing models into winter-ready boots. The whole process typically makes for some pretty awkward-looking concoctions.
Reebok's added to this season's pack of cold-weather kicks with the release of the 58 BRIGHT ST DMX BETA10. It could be that whoever named this model couldn't work out how to turn off caps lock...
As its name suggests, the BETA10 is the newest member of the DMX family, sporting a curvy midsole reminiscent of the DMX Run's air-pod cushioning. However, the similarities between these DMX 'brothers from another mother' end here.
In creating this unusual number, designers over at the 'Bok mixed together the trusty Chelsea Boot with sneaker tech and hoped for the best. All the elements of the classic Chelsea are present here: peep that distinctive rounded toe and the strip of elastic that binds the vamp and the quarter.
The menswear staple is then given the 'sneaker treatment'. It's been wrapped up in adjustable laces and placed atop a grippy ribbed sole. A bright red tab spelling 'DMX' bleeds down the BETA's heel. The thick rubber midsole protects the suede upper from the elements.
This strange looking BETA certainly isn't the Alpha of this season's sneakerboot offerings. But if you're a Chelsea-wearing gentleman looking to make your foray into the sneakersphere, here's your chance. Navy and beige colourways can be picked up now from retailers like atmos.
