The Better™ Gift Shop x Salomon X Ultra 3 GTX is Inspired by Everyday Happenings
have been on a collaborative hot streak lately. Linking with CDG, Fumito Ganryu, and And Wander, one could say they have the Japanese fashion market on lock! Next on their travels though, they’re heading to Toronto, Canada to meet up with the Better™ Gift Shop crew to unveil their exclusive colab on the X Ultra 3 GTX. Inspired by the everyday happenings of the brand’s team, it plays on the surrounding geography of Toronto and how you can hit the trails in the morning, before returning to the concrete jungle in the afternoon.
Using the X Ultra 3 GTX, the duo have fused together a low-top hiking sneaker with a trail running shoe, merging foam cushioning, extra mudguards, and a rubber toe cap to ensure the wearer has the best protection no matter the terrain. The outsole has been strapped with Contragrip, while the upper has been lined with GORE-TEX. The colourway is also on-point, with a tonal mix of browns elevated by subtle hints of blue and pink.
‘Better™ Gift Shop is a brand that was built for the community, by the community,’ said Oliver Catahan, Better™ Gift Shop’s General Manager. ‘With our first Salomon collaboration, we updated their classic hiker silhouette. This time, we’ve put our spin on one of our favourite hiking shoes and more importantly, we’re spotlighting up-and-coming artists that are near and dear to the Better™ Gift Shop family. We wanted to illustrate the true versatility of this shoe by showing people who actually wear our product over the course of their day.’
They also filmed a short documentary-style video that highlights the day-to-day of Seattle-based artists Hank Reavis and Noah Trimble. It follows the duo and documents their activities in the studio and the outdoors. The Better™ Gift Shop x Salomon X Ultra 3 GTX has been locked in to drop on April 17 at the brand’s flagship store. A wider release will follow at select stockists around the globe including Dover Street Market on April 20.
