The ASICS Novablast Needs to Be Seen to Be BelievedRelease: 5 March 2021
ASICS may have a very strong back catalogue of classic running shoes, but their contemporary offering is not to be slept on. Leading the charge of the Japanese brand’s latest and greatest is the Novablast, which has seen a fair bit of attention in recent months thanks to high-profile collaborations and strong colourways. This new edition is an example of the latter, featuring a bright palette that channels the spirit of its predecessors’ crazy makeups.
Unlike many ASICS models, the Novablast actually doesn’t feature the flagship GEL cushioning technology. Instead, the ultralight and responsive FLYTEFOAM compound is used to shave off grams, and is extra bendy for all kinds of flex. Like GEL, the midsole can also be rendered with just about every pigment available. In this case, it’s presented in a pretty shade of ‘Digital Aqua’.
Up top, the majority mesh uppers are particularly receptive to graphic treatments and colour coordination. A white base – not that there’s much left of it – is coated in lashings of ‘Marigold Orange’ that match up to the solid shaded tongues, laces and lining. Some additional accents of blue complete the sensibly colour-blocked execution. It may be a busy shoe, but it’s actually also quite restrained in its own way – and comfy too!
They’re available now directly from ASICS.
