Two particular sneakers that tend to borrow each other’s colours – and more importantly, make them work – are the Air Jordan 6 and 7, with the latter transplanting its OG makeups onto the former. The latest example of this is the upcoming AJ6 ‘Bordeaux’ which, of course, derives its colourway from its successor.

While the AJ6 and AJ7 are considerably different models, they do share a number of similarities. After all, they were both designed by Tinker Hatfield. One major shared feature is the stretchy neoprene tongue, which on the 6 can be considered a precursor to the Huarache technology that Hatfield later introduced to the signature Air Jordan line via the 7. Also, the layered upper of both models means the ashy grey and black finish of the ‘Bordeaux’ 7 translates over to the 6 almost identically. Elsewhere, the rear of the tongue is decorated in the mosaic pattern of the 7, while the topside is dipped in the namesake wine purple ‘Bordeaux’. Features unique to the AJ6, such as the lace toggle and heel tab ‘spoiler’ are rendered in contrasting shades of orange and ‘Bordeaux’ respectively.

The Air Jordan 6 ‘Bordeaux’ will release on September 5 via Nike SNKRS and selected retailers.
