The Air Jordan 5 ‘Racer Blue’ Revs Its Engine

Air Jordan 5 Racer Blue

The Air Jordan 5 is still a bad, bad boy. Arriving during the NBA’s 1989–90 season, the AJ5 was laced by His Airness to help establish an aggressive flightpath for the GOAT, the inimitable silhouette taking inspiration from America’s WWII P-51 fighter jets.

Designed by the sneaker legend Tinker Hatfield, the AJ5 fuelled Jordan’s campaign against the Motor City ‘Bad Boys’, the take-no-prisoners silhouette locked in for a long and brutal post-season slugfest.

This year, we’ve had plenty of heat arriving for the Air Jordan 5, including the mighty tasty ‘Oreo’ and wild Raging Bull/Toro Bravo, while the recent Fall lineup teaser also looks promising for the AJ5.

Now, it looks like the Jordan Brand are already preparing colourways for 2022, the AJ5 ‘Racer Blue’ reportedly taking flight in February. Composed in black, ‘Racer Blue’, and ‘Reflective Silver’, the AJ5 is predominantly manufactured in black nubuck uppers, while accents appear via ‘Racer Blue’ Jumpman tongues, inner tongues, lace locks, midsoles, and the Jumpman on the heels. 3M reflective detailing adds some iridescent styling to the sneaker, while icy outsoles complete the design.

Look for the Air Jordan 5 ‘Racer Blue’ to take flight on February 12. The price tag is locked at $190.
