The Air Jordan 5 ‘Oreo’ Returns!

Air Jordan 5 'Oreo'

Originally hitting shelves in 1990, the Air Jordan 5 continues to soar, the iconic silhouette seen in numerous renditions this year. Modelled on America's WWII P-51 fighter jets, the silhouette took flight during the 1989-90 NBA season, helping fuel Michael Jordan’s aerial attack against the Detroit Pistons in the post-season.

Culturally propelled by its appearance on The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air and Nike’s legendary Mars Blackmon campaign, the AJ5 irrevocably changed the flight path of Jordan Brand, the silhouette still one of the most conceptually audacious designs ever.

Originally released in November 2013, the delectable Air Jordan 5 ‘Oreo’ is now set to make a return in 2021, the colourway one of the most financially lucrative drops that year (moving around 500,000 units).

Manufactured in black nubuck, this AJ5 is, of course, inspired by the American sandwich cookie, the shark teeth speckled with black and white contrasting hits. Translucent outsoles and netting complete the design.

An undisputed icon from the Jumpman hangar, make sure to read our feature article on why the Air Jordan 5 is still a weapon.
