The  Air Jordan 4 is about to become a blank canvas for the artistically inclined, with this Grade School–sized option seemingly calling out for colour customisation. Word of this creative crep first started circulating at the beginning of the year, but now we have leaked images that provide a better understanding of the concept.

Before you get the textas out, this AJ4 is a clean black and white template, with the black lines giving a clear delineation of the legendary silhouette, while the midpanels are filled with numbers and other iconography. The speckled midsole is a nice touch, while the ‘Volt’ innersoles give some forewarning to the colour additions that are set to come after purchase.

Debuting in 1989, the Air Jordan 4 expanded the design language of MJ’s previous signature model. While details like bold sculpted tooling, visible Air cushioning, and the unmistakable Jumpman logo remained, the AJ4 added breathable mesh netting on the upper and tongue, as well as ‘wings’ and moulded additions to the eyestay that allowed for multiple lacing options.

Pairs of this Air Jordan 4 GS ‘DIY’ are expected to release on August 19, which gives you just over a month to properly study the colour wheel.
