The Air Jordan 3 'Katrina' Will Get a Wide Release
We recently reported that sneaker hub Politics and Jordan Brand were holding an unprecedented block party in New Orleans to unveil a special release, rumoured to be the sought-after Air Jordan 3 ‘Katrina’. Well, now we can confirm that the rumours are true. And, not only that — the shoe will get a wider release in May.
Jordan Brand created the AJ3 'Katrina' back in 2006 for a Hurricane Katrina charity auction. A 1-of-1 pair, the sneaker was never released to the public. But that’s all about to change.
In these latest shots, we see a white tumbled-leather upper with iconic elephant print on the toe-box and heel. Fiery pops of red are found on the midsole, tongue, and Jumpman logo, while a grey outsole gives the shoe a nice, clean finish. It’s a bit of a bummer, but the classic plastic heel tab features Jumpman branding instead of the classic Nike Air logo, bucking the trend of other recent Jordan 3 releases.
Aside from the early drop in New Orleans on April 28, you can look out for the Air Jordan 3 ‘Katrina’ to drop on Nike.com on May 12 for $190. We don’t expect these to sit, so you’ll need some luck to secure a pair.
