The Air Jordan 13 Receives Some Royal Treatment
The is set to receive some royal treatment, with official images emerging of the badass baller in a brooding ‘Hyper Royal’ colour scheme. After a sneak peek back in September when announced their for this year, these pics give us a much closer look at the colourway, which leverages the lethal one-two punch combination of ‘black’ and ‘Hyper Royal’.
The Air Jordan 13 has enjoyed a resurgence in cultural relevance in 2020, sparked by the runaway success of ESPN’s which transfixed audiences across the globe earlier this year. The feline-inspired silhouette was on feet throughout the 1997/98 NBA season, proving that 13 isn’t an unlucky number of everyone.
Tinker Hatfield modelled the AJ13 on a black panther, finessing a unique outsole pattern based on the shape of a paw, and dressing the ankle with a holographic jewel, mimicking a cat’s eye. It was a divergent design, and unlike anything the Jordan line had seen before at that time.
